Why Boundaries Are the New Path to Self-Love https://www.newsanyway.com/2025/11/11/boundaries-and-self-love/ Tue, 11 Nov 2025 21:21:26 +0000 https://www.newsanyway.com/?p=141898 When someone goes through a separation or major life shift, the gentle idea of “self-love” can feel a little distant or superficial. Real self-love at these times is less about bubble baths and makeovers more about making decisions that protect one’s wellbeing. Setting emotional, physical and financial boundaries becomes a deeply meaningful act of self-respect and healing.

Redefining Self-Love in Times of Change

Self-love, at its heart, is about choosing to honour one’s needs and values, especially during emotionally charged periods such as separation. Self-love involves setting boundaries around time and energy, prioritising personal goals and caring for oneself as you would a friend. During a transition, one might redefine self-love by saying “no” to what drains me, and “yes” to what strengthens me. That might mean stepping back from hurtful conversations, choosing restful routines over expectations, and creating safe spaces for healing.

The Role of Boundaries in Emotional Recovery

Boundaries are the building blocks of healing. By clarifying what one will and will not accept a person rebuilds confidence, reduces conflict and creates space for recovery. Emotional boundaries might mean: “I will not engage in calls that leave me anxious,” or “I will ask for time alone before I respond.” Setting boundaries is key to feeling respected, valued and safe. If someone is navigating separation, for example, they might find their mind constantly looping over what happened. Emotional boundaries can interrupt that loop with clarity: For example, telling yourself “I will only think about this topic at 7 pm each day for 20 minutes. Over time, these boundaries restore autonomy, calm and emotional stability.

Financial Boundaries as a Form of Empowerment

Establishing clear financial boundaries during separation can be a powerful act of self-care. Divorce lawyers can help you navigate this with clarity and confidence. Financial boundaries might include defining what share of joint assets one is comfortable with, setting independent budgets, or choosing how and when finances will be discussed. In the UK, guidelines exist to help those separating sort out money, property and pensions. By taking control of finances during a separation the individual reinforces their self-worth and sets the tone for the next chapter.

Putting It All Together: Self-Respect, Safety and Freedom

  • Create a list of what you need emotionally (quiet time, supportive friends) and where you’ll draw lines.
  • Note what financial decisions feel right (bank account changes, budgeting, advice).
  • Review physical boundaries (space, privacy, rest).
  • Honour each boundary by saying the words, writing them down, or sharing them with someone you trust.

The journey of self-love through boundaries may not always feel easy or particularly glamorous, but it’s profoundly transformative and so worthwhile. In choosing to protect and honour what really matters, the person emerges not only healed but more whole and more themselves.

EFG Collaborates with Soil Carbon Programmes to Support Farmers https://www.newsanyway.com/2025/11/10/efg-teams-up-with-soil-carbon-providers/ Mon, 10 Nov 2025 19:46:12 +0000 https://www.newsanyway.com/?p=141890 Environmental Farmers Group (EFG) has entered into strategic partnerships with Regenerate Outcomes and Ecometric, two leading UK-based soil carbon programme providers. This collaboration allows EFG members to access discounted rates and favourable terms to measure, manage, and monetise soil carbon on their farms.

The decision follows a comprehensive review of the soil carbon market, assessing the integrity, methodology, and market readiness of multiple providers. The review concluded that Regenerate Outcomes and Ecometric offer robust, farmer-aligned programmes, enabling EFG members to maximise both environmental impact and financial benefits.

Supporting farmers to take control of carbon

Soil carbon programmes allow farmers to track and measure soil carbon over time, building datasets that support informed management decisions and can generate verified carbon credits. These credits can either be retained to offset on-farm emissions, sold to supply chain buyers, or sold on the voluntary carbon market, creating an additional income stream. The key is that farmers have control of what they do with their carbon.

The commercial opportunity of trading soil carbon depends on variables such as weather, farm management practices and soil types. This means that the amount of carbon stored in soil can go up and down year by year. However, on average over a 20-year period, EFG expects about 3tn/ha/annum CO2e could be stored in soil with a modest carbon price leading to a gross margin of around £60/ha/annum. This might be an important additional income stream for farms over the coming years.

Digby Sowerby, Managing Director of EFG, commented:

“After careful analysis of the soil carbon market, we are pleased to endorse Regenerate Outcomes and Ecometric as trusted providers. Both offer high-integrity programmes that put decision-making firmly in the hands of farmers. Our priority is to ensure members can engage in carbon markets confidently, with access to transparent, science-based programmes that support both environmental outcomes and commercial resilience.”

Ecometric CEO, David Wright added:

“We are excited to work with EFG to scale routine soil carbon monitoring across their membership, in support of improved soil management and the generation of financial reward for capturing and storing carbon dioxide.”

Regenerate Outcomes Director, Tom Dillon added:

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Environmental Farmers Group to enable more farmers to see the benefits of improved soil health on their farm, through the package of bespoke mentoring plus revenues from soil carbon credits. Now is the right time for British farmers to secure a soil carbon baseline so that the environmental benefits they’re delivering on farm can be recognised and rewarded now and in the future.”

High-integrity soil carbon

EFG has taken a pragmatic approach in assessing market providers, looking at both the scientific and commercial offering. From an environmental perspective, EFG has been supported by Mark Kibblewhite of MK Soil Science Ltd and an Emeritus Professor at Cranfield University. Based on his work, EFG has decided that a ‘measure and remeasure’ approach to quantifying change in soil carbon and generating soil carbon credits is most appropriate for decision making and for trading high-integrity carbon credits. Both Ecometric and Regenerate Outcomes complete intensive physical sampling with carbon traded based on outcomes rather than being purely modelled.

From a commercial perspective, Trethowans (solicitors and EFG sponsors) and Natural Capital Advisory have acted for EFG in reviewing the legal agreements that farmers will need to sign to participate in soil carbon programmes. Although both programmes comprise of long-term commitments, both offer methods to exit early and EFG has also negotiated specific terms for EFG Members to ensure its members have the ability to own the soil carbon data generated.

Advantage of Scale

EFG will facilitate trading carbon credit sales (where members wish to trade) through its existing network of buyers, leveraging the cooperative’s scale to secure competitive pricing for members. As well as benefiting members, its size offers an advantage to buyers seeking significant quantities of high-integrity, UK-based carbon credits through a single point of contact. Overall, EFG is aiming to achieve over 50,000tn CO2e carbon sequestration in 2026, clearly demonstrating how farmers can contribute to national environmental targets whilst increasing farm profitability.

As part of the new agreements, EFG members will receive savings of between £1/ha and £4/ha. As EFG’s Membership subscription fee is only £1.25/ha, this means that it is worth joining these soil carbon programmes as an EFG Member. Those who are members of the farmer cooperative will also benefit from selling together through existing networks of buyers, leveraging the cooperative’s scale (currently 387,000ha) to secure competitive pricing for members.

EFG Members have received full information on the offers available to them and EFG has held two information sessions in early November. Farmers who are not yet members but are interested to learn more are encouraged to either express an interest in joining EFG or to email efg@gwct.org.uk for more information.

Nissan and Monolith Extend AI Partnership to Accelerate Vehicle Testing and Development https://www.newsanyway.com/2025/11/05/nissan-partners-with-monolith/ Wed, 05 Nov 2025 14:31:51 +0000 https://www.newsanyway.com/?p=141841 Nissan has extended its strategic partnership with Monolith through 2027 to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in reducing physical vehicle testing and speeding up product development.

The collaboration combines Nissan’s 90 years of R&D expertise with Monolith’s advanced AI technology to predict performance outcomes earlier in the design process. By cutting the need for multiple physical prototypes, Nissan can bring vehicles to market faster while improving quality and sustainability.

This initiative forms a key part of the company’s RE:Nissan global recovery plan, aimed at reducing vehicle development time, driving operational efficiency, and accelerating innovation across its product lineup.

First used to validate testing on the new, Sunderland-built Nissan LEAF electric vehicle, Monolith’s AI technology will be applied to more tests for Nissan’s future range of models in Europe.

Using more than 90 years of vehicle testing data, engineers at Nissan Technical Centre Europe (Cranfield, United Kingdom) will use Monolith’s AI technology to accurately predict the results of physical tests. This reduces the reliance on physical prototypes, streamlines the development process and allows engineers to focus on hands-on problem solving and decision making.

The decision to extend the partnership follows the successful collaboration between Nissan and Monolith using AI to test the performance of bolt joints in vehicle chassis. The AI technology recommended the optimal torque range for bolts to be tightened and reliably prioritised additional tests for engineers to carry out.

This resulted in an overall 17% reduction in physical testing compared to the non-AI process. Applying the same approach across the development of all Nissan’s European vehicle range could cut testing time by half.

Commenting on the partnership, Emma Deutsch, Director of Customer Orientated Engineering and Test Operations, Nissan Technical Centre Europe, said: “By integrating Monolith’s advanced AI-driven engineering software and decades of testing data, we’re able to simulate and validate vehicle performance with remarkable precision.

“Their machine learning models, trained on a combination of historical test data and digital simulations, allow us to reduce reliance on physical prototypes – cutting development time and resource use significantly. This approach not only accelerates our time to market but also supports our commitment to innovation and sustainability. As we look to the future, AI will play an increasingly central role in how we design, test, and deliver the next generation of vehicles to our customers sooner.”

Monolith’s platform enables engineers to harness historical test data and simulations to predict outcomes, reduce reliance on physical prototypes, and improve product quality. Tools like the Next Test Recommender and Anomaly Detector illustrate how Monolith’s commitment to cutting development cycles in half, all while maintaining quality and performance of its vehicles and technologies.

Dr. Richard Ahlfeld, CEO and Founder of Monolith, added: “Our mission is to empower engineers with AI tools that unlock smarter, faster product development. The results of our work with Nissan demonstrate how machine learning can drive efficiency and innovation in automotive engineering. We’re thrilled to continue this journey together.”

First used to validate testing on the new Nissan LEAF, Monolith’s AI integrated testing will be applied to more tests for future models due to hit the market in the years ahead.

Northdoor Critiques UK Supply Chain Cyber Guidance as Insufficient Against Modern Threats https://www.newsanyway.com/2025/11/04/northdoor-critiques-uk-ransomware/ Tue, 04 Nov 2025 19:38:43 +0000 https://www.newsanyway.com/?p=141831 Following the UK Government’s new supply chain cybersecurity guidance, Northdoor plc has raised concerns that the recommendations fall short in helping businesses defend against sophisticated ransomware attacks.

While the guidance, developed with the Counter Ransomware Initiative and its Private Sector Advisory Panel, encourages organisations to strengthen defences, it does not address hidden vulnerabilities within extensive third- and fourth-party networks. Northdoor calls for smarter, tech-driven approaches that equip companies with actionable tools to secure complex supply chains effectively.

AJ Thompson, Chief Commercial Officer at Northdoor plc, commented:

“There is little doubt that supply chain attacks are now the most effective method cybercriminals are using to gain access to data and systems. The attacks against high-profile targets over the past few months should have acted as a wake-up call to all businesses.”

“The issue is that most supply chains are now so large and complex, understanding where vulnerabilities lie within third parties or even further down the line is for most an impossible task. Therefore, advice from the Government is welcomed, but it needs to be more proactive, less bland, than what we have seen so far.”

“Without insight as to where the weaknesses lie within supply chains, companies are essentially leaving the back door open, no matter what they spend on frontline defences.”

Northdoor is calling for a shift away from outdated, questionnaire-based risk assessments toward AI-driven solutions that offer a 360-degree view of supply chain vulnerabilities. These technologies can provide real-time, actionable intelligence, something traditional methods simply cannot match.

“The Government and companies need to appreciate that the response to supply chain attacks needs to be on par with the sophistication that the cybercriminals are using,” Thompson added. “This doesn’t mean huge expense, but it does require a new mindset.”

The alert comes as the UK also signs a new UN treaty on countering cybercrime, another step in the right direction, but one that must be backed by practical, tech-enabled action if it’s to make a meaningful difference.

EEA Opens Consultation on Global Hotel Sustainability Standards https://www.newsanyway.com/2025/10/31/eea-develops-esg-standards/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 18:45:06 +0000 https://www.newsanyway.com/?p=141802 The hospitality sector is taking a major step toward transparency and accountability with the launch of a global consultation on sustainability accounting standards. The initiative is spearheaded by the Energy & Environment Alliance (EEA), a coalition representing over 50,000 hotels and £360 billion in hospitality and real estate assets.

In partnership with King’s Business School, the EEA Taskforce on Hotels & Lodging Sustainability Accounting Standards is developing uniform, audit-ready metrics that hotels and lodging operators can adopt. The goal is to provide investors, lenders, and asset managers with reliable, comparable data to assess environmental impact, operational performance, and long-term value.

This effort marks the first attempt to create financially material sustainability standards tailored to the hotel industry, aiming to drive better decision-making and responsible investment across the global hospitality sector.

“Sustainability performance now directly affects how assets are financed, insured and valued,” said Ufi Ibrahim, Founder and Chief Executive of the EEA. “The question for our industry is no longer whether we disclose, but how we do so in a way that is commercially intelligent, credible and comparable across markets. This consultation is shaping the way the future is being built.”

The new financial infrastructure for hospitality

The proposed standards are grounded in IFRS S1 and S2 – the new global baseline for sustainability accounting, adopted by, or under consideration in, more than 30 major economies, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, the EU, India, Japan, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.

These frameworks require companies to disclose sustainability-related information with the same rigour and assurance as financial data, covering emissions, resilience, transition plans and other factors that materially influence cash flows, cost of capital and long-term value.

For the hospitality sector, one of the world’s most capital-intensive and climate-exposed asset classes, this shift is decisive. Transparent, comparable data is increasingly influencing how projects are financed, how insurance is priced and how investors assess risk.

Professor Marc Lepere, Head of ESG and Sustainability at King’s Business School, added: “Our research shows that the absence of clear, sector-specific metrics is leaving investors unable to price sustainability risk with confidence. The proposed standards translate global reporting rules into a financial language that the capital markets understand, connecting sustainability performance directly to enterprise value.”

Laura Lee Blake, President & CEO, Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) commented: “The hospitality industry across the United States stands at a pivotal juncture, where investor expectations and guest demands are changing faster than ever. By engaging in this global consultation with the EEA Taskforce, we are helping ensure hotel owners can access capital, meet transparency demands, and compete on a truly global footing. I’m proud to support this initiative, which empowers our members to future-proof their assets and deliver better outcomes for guests and investors alike.”

“For all segments of the hotel industry, sustainability has become a central business consideration. Our members are implementing efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, saving millions of gallons of water annually, and keeping millions of pounds of plastics and food waste out of landfills each year,” said Rosanna Maietta, President & CEO of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. “We’re pleased to partner with EEA on this new initiative. The EEA Task Force’s consultation is a significant milestone for our industry. It provides us with the opportunity to help shape the benchmark by which sustainability will be measured, and to ensure that reporting frameworks reflect the realities of global hospitality operations.”

Camilla Barretto, CEO, Brazilian Luxury Travel Association (BLTA), concluded: “Brazil’s hospitality and travel sector is intrinsically linked to our natural and cultural wealth—assets that are both precious and fragile. By participating in this global consultation, our industry is making sure that emerging markets such as ours have a seat at the table in setting the standards that will guide sustainable investment and growth for decades to come. I believe this effort will help ensure that the voice of Latin America is heard in the evolving agenda of global hospitality sustainability and reporting.”

A call to drive the standards that will shape the market

The consultation invites hotel investors, owners, asset managers, operators, lenders, developers and insurers worldwide to provide feedback on the proposed framework. Participants will help refine the metrics and disclosures that will form the basis of the final standards to be submitted to the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (IFRS) in 2026.

Why participate?
The EEA, AAHOA, AH&LA and BLTA encourage all stakeholders in the hospitality sector to participate because these standards will influence how their business and their capital are assessed. Engaging in the consultation allows them to:

  • Ensure the standards are practical, credible and aligned with commercial reality
  • Influence how sustainability affects financing terms, valuations and insurance
  • Demonstrate leadership in shaping the industry’s transition to climate-ready, audit-grade, investor-ready reporting.

Next steps

The consultation remains open until 28 February 2026.
